As Share-a-Smile volunteers we helped serve food at local community kitchen ‘A Just Harvest’. Along with serving food they also help clean up. The joy of serving and helping was a common feeling amongst volunteers.

There are very few places in the world where one can sense happiness and homeless shelter was definitely among those few places. Though it was my first visit to such a place I always felt I have been doing it for many years. I was happy to see people serve food to the needy without any self interest involved which reminds me of a famous quote “The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity”. In today’s world where we see hatred and violence all around, Places like this help us put back our belief in humanity where people are not discriminated and served as a part of their own family. To sum up my visit to homeless shelter was definitely one which I can never forget.
